“Khachanov is not in his best form at the moment, from the first rounds of Roland Garros he had difficult matches” – Pivovarova

Former World Junior No. 2 Anastasia Pivovarova believes that the Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov was not in his best form at Roland Garros, as all the matches he played were in wrestling.

Khachanov lost to Serbian Novak Djokovic in the Roland Garros quarter-finals on Tuesday with a score of 6:4, 6:7 (0:7), 2:6, 4:6.

– Probably, Khachanov is not in his best form, because from the first rounds he had long and difficult matches. First, he beat the Frenchman in five sets – not the best start to the tournament. In the third round, he defeated Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis, who is not a super strong player on clay, in four sets, and the score was 7:6 in the fourth set.

Every Karen match was a wrestling match. Yes, in the fourth round he punished the culprit of Rublev – Lorenzo Sonego, who had already eliminated our Andrei, but in the end did not approach the match against Djokovic in the quarterfinals in the best way.

In the match with Djokovic, Karen did everything he could. Fight like a lion. But, unfortunately, that was not enough. Maybe if he had approached the game more freshly, he would have had the strength to change the outcome of the fight with Djokovic,” Pivovarova told Gazeta.Ru.

Khachanov reached the semi-finals of the US Open last year, in January the Russian stopped one step away from the final of the Australian Open.
