Second racket in the Belarusian world Arina Sobolenko announced that she had received a British visa to participate in the Wimbledon tournament.
At the end of March, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), which is the organizer of Wimbledon, announced the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the competition in a neutral status and under “certain conditions”. In May, Sobolenko said she had yet to receive a UK visa.
– Now I have a visa, congratulations. I can celebrate. I’m going to Wimbledon and that’s great news. I can’t wait to be there, I like playing there a lot, I like the atmosphere of the tournament. I missed the tournament last year, I can’t wait to go back to show my best tennis,” Sobolenko told the Roland Garros press service.
Wimbledon will be held from July 3 to 16. Sobolenko’s best result at the tournament is the semi-final in 2021.
On Thursday, Sobolenko failed to reach the Roland Garros final, losing in the semi-final to Czech Karolina Muchova in three sets.
