Russian tennis player Anastasia Pivovarova told Gazeta.Ru that she was surprised at the defeat Veronica Kudermetova at the start of the French Open Anna Caroline Shmidlova from Slovakia.
Shmidlova won the match 6:3, 6:1.
– Regarding the performance of the Russian girls, Veronika Kudermetova’s defeat in the first round against Anna Shmidlova was a big surprise for me.
Shmidlova is a good player, but Veronika has already raised the level of her game quite high and should have won this match,” noted Pivovarova.
Kudermetova and Lyudmila Samsonova reached the quarter-finals at Roland Garros in doubles.
