The Pole managed to hold the lead until 5-2, when she generated another break for seal the first set 6-2 in 45 minutes of the game .

In the second set, the defending champion looked set for a resounding victory, having once again taken the Czech’s serve early in the set, again leading 3-0.

However, Muchova was not willing to let the match slip away so easily. falling back in the fifth game, then leveling the action at 3-3 on his serve.

From there, both players fell into irregularities, giving up their serve three times (two for the Pole and once for the Czech), which led to the current WTA number 43 to even the actions after having sealed the set 7-5 in 1 hour. and 12 minutes .

In the final round, Muchova capitalized on the boost that had given her the previous set, achieving an early 2–0 lead; however, Swiatek later equalized 2-2.

The nervousness and tension of the two again undermined their performances in service games, as when the Czech seemed to take over the reins of the match, the set was again leveled 4-4.

Already at the decisive moment of the match, the number 1 of the planet held her service then broke to keep the partial 6-4 in 52 minutes .

With this victory, Iga Swiatek managed to revalidate the crown obtained last year at Roland Garros, a contest he also won in 2020 .

Besides, this is the 14th title for the Pole and his fourth Grand Slam trophy. In addition to the three made in Paris, the 1st in the WTA ranking conquered the US Open 2022 .
