Daria in the status of a lucky loser beat the tenth racket of the world Beatriz Haddad Maya
Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur shared her impressions after the victory over the tenth racket of the world Beatrice Haddad Maya tournament in Nottingham.
“This is something unreal! Beatriz is a really great tennis player, she played in the Roland Garros semi-finals. I want to thank her for this match. I just tried to play my best. I want to thank all the fans who supported both of us, all the Ukrainian fans who supported me. Thank you very much!
“What does this support mean to me, given all the events at home? I love the UK because I won Junior Wimbledon here. I love grass, it’s my favorite surface, I love British fans. I had so much fun with today’s performance. We also played center court, which was a really great experience for me.”
“When did I know that I would play today? I was in my room when the tournament director called and said that I was a “lucky loser” and was playing a second run. I immediately thought that I need to warm up, I need to get myself together psychologically. I didn’t understand then what really happened. It’s incredible.”
Snigur lost in the final qualification of the tournament in Nottingham. Daria entered the main draw as a lucky loser, replacing another Ukrainian Lesya Tsurenko, who decided to take some extra rest and focus on recovering from her illness.
In the second round, Daria will play with Cathy Bulter from Great Britain. In September last year, Snigur lost to the British at the hard tournament in Tallinn.
