Athletistic/Tennis. Russian tennis player Lyudmila Samsonova, ranked 15th in the world rankings, reached the quarter-finals of the WTA-250 grass tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands).
In the second round of the competition, Lyudmila Samsonova, seeded number two, beat her compatriot Polina Kudermetova (141st in the world ranking) 6:4, 6:1. The match lasted 1h14. Samsonova shot from start to finish, double faulted four times and converted five of six break points. Kudermetova Jr. (sister of world number 14 Veronika Kudermetova) had six aces, ten double faults and one break point from two won.
In the quarter-finals, Lyudmila Samsonova will play with the representative of Belarus Alexandra Sasnovich, ranked 7th in the standings. This match will be decisive in reaching the semi-finals of a major grass-court tournament this season.
