Tunisian tennis player On’s Gill failed to reach the second round of the grass-court tournament in Berlin.
Jaber, seeded number four, lost in the first round to courts owner Julie Niemeyer 6:7 (4:7), 4:6. The German reached the main draw of the competition from qualification.
The representative of Tunisia, ranked sixth in the WTA rankings, lost her chance to defend the title she won a year ago.
Niemeyer’s next opponent will be known after the match between Canada’s Bianca Andreescu and Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic (wild card).
The prize money for the tournament is over $780,000.
