Lyudmila and Elena received the first seeding number
Ukrainian Lyudmila Kichenok And Elena Ostapenko from Latvia made it to the 1/4 finals of the doubles tournament WTA 250 in Birmingham.
At the start of the competition, Kichenok and Ostapenko, who received the first seed, beat Estonian Ingrid Nil and Wu Fansen from Chinese Taipei.
Lyudmila and Elena converted five out of seven breakpoints, getting a confident victory in two sets – 6:3, 6:0.
In the 1/4 finals, Kichenok and Ostapenko will play with the duet Ulrikke Eikeri / Alexander Panov.
Kichenok and Ostapenko are the current winners of the tournament in Birmingham. The title in Birmingham was the first joint title for tennis players at the WTA level.
Recall that Nadezhda Kichenok and Alicia Rosolska could not overcome the first round of the doubles tournament in Birmingham, losing to the duo of Magda Lynette / Bernard Pera.
