Former world number one Martina Navratilova She announced that she was cured of cancer.
The 18-time Grand Slam singles winner previously revealed she needed radiation therapy to her breasts after a recurrence of breast cancer, and Navratilova was also diagnosed with throat cancer. In March, a 66-year-old Czech woman reported that the disease was in remission.
– After a whole day of examinations, I received a positive answer! Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, proton and beam assistants… What a relief,” Navratilova wrote on her Twitter page.
Navratilova in 2010 first encountered breast cancer, then she underwent a lumpectomy.
Navratilova has won 59 Grand Slam tournaments in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. She is second in number of weeks at the top of the world rankings (332), just behind Germany’s Steffi Graf (377).
