Ukrainian will replace Croatian Anya Konyukh
Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko entered the list of participants in the main draw Wimbledon.
Initially, Tsurenko was entered through the qualifying rounds. However, due to the removal of the Croatian athlete Ana Konyukh from the tournament, the Ukrainian took her place in the main draw.
In addition to Tsurenko, there are three Ukrainians in the main draw of the upcoming Wimbledon – Angelina Kalinina, Marta Kostyuk and Dayana Yastremska.
Daria Snigur, Katerina Beindl and Katarina Zawatskaya can also compete in the women’s singles qualification.
The main part of Wimbledon starts on June 27th. Russian and Belarusian tennis players were not allowed to compete because of their countries’ full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In addition, ATP, WTA and ITF will not award ranking points for performance in the tournament.
The total prize fund of the tournament this year will be a record 40.35 million pounds. The men’s and women’s singles champions will each receive £2 million. Finalists will receive more than a million.
