Former world number 5 Bouchard to miss Wimbledon due to WTA’s decision not to award points for his performance in the tournament

The former Canadian world number 5 Eugenie Bouchard announced that she will miss Wimbledon in 2022 due to the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) decision not to award ranking points to players for their performance in the tournament.

The Canadian has not competed since March last year due to right shoulder surgery. The ATP and WTA have decided not to award ranking points to tennis players for their performance at Wimbledon due to the fact that Russians and Belarusians are banned from playing in the Grand Slam tournament and other competitions in the UK in 2022.

– I have decided to withdraw from Wimbledon due to the WTA’s decision not to award ranking points. Due to shoulder surgery, I have a limited number of applications using safety glasses.

As much as I love Wimbledon and am sad to miss it, using such an app in a tournament without ranking points makes no sense. I have to choose wisely and use them in tournaments that will help me get back to where I want to be.

I continue training and rehabilitation, I plan to resume competitions at the end of this summer. Will use two Grand Slam offers for US Open and Australian Open,” tweeted Bouchard.

Bouchard is 28 years old. The Canadian is the winner of a WTA tournament, runner-up at Wimbledon in 2014.
