Former world number one Evgeny Kafelnikov criticized Wimbledon organizers for the likely exclusion of state-backed Russian juniors.
A screenshot with the rules for admitting tennis players to the tournament appeared on the network. One of the clauses states that players from Russia and Belarus should not receive state funding to have a chance to play in the tournament.
– Fools! Most parents don’t have that kind of money to send their kids to the tournament. Pathetic! Kafelnikov wrote on Twitter.
Wimbledon will be held from July 3-16. Last year, Russian tennis players were suspended from participation.
