Athletistic / Tennis. Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko says WTA management has started investigating her coach Nikita Vlasov. According to Tsurenko, Vlasov initially demanded an investigation of WTA chief Stephen Simon, but the case eventually took a different turn.

Tsurenko said that Vlasov defended her after the events of the tournament in Indian Wells (USA) in March 2023. Then the Ukrainian tennis player had a panic attack before the match with Belarusian Arina Sobolenko. Tsurenko said she spoke with Simon before the game, and he told her that the political events in Ukraine and the attitude of Ukrainians towards Russians and Belarusians should not affect the competition.

Sobolenko: ‘I felt they hated me because of my country’

“My trainer was originally the initiator of the investigation against Simon. Nikita filed an official request with the WTA. And today they sent me a letter and told me that the case was open against my trainer Now the WTA is trying to pressure the only person who spoke up for my defense I feel like they are trying to pressure me I’m doing what Simon started , “Tsurenko quotes Big Tennis of Ukraine.”
