Selivanenko wished a speedy recovery to Khachanov, who withdrew from Wimbledon

Russian Tennis Federation Vice-President, ITF Board Member Alexei Selivanenko wished the Russian a speedy recovery Karen Khachanov who will not participate in Wimbledon.

Previously, Khachanov officially withdrew from the Grand Slam tournament in the UK. The tennis player will miss Wimbledon with a stress fracture and will be replaced in the main draw by Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo. The last time Khachanov stepped onto the court was in the Roland Garros quarter-finals, where he lost to eventual tournament winner Novak Djokovic of Serbia. After that, the 27-year-old tennis player missed the grass court tournament in Halle due to injury. He is currently ranked 11th in the ATP rankings.

– Even in Khachanov’s last game at Roland Garros, it was clear that something was bothering him. In my opinion, Karen and her team made a balanced decision that it was best to recover calmly and not play with an unhealed injury. It happens to many tennis players from time to time.

On behalf of all Russian tennis fans, I wish Khachanov a speedy recovery and return to the court,” Selivanenko quotes Vprognoze.ru.

In early June, it was reported that the majority of Russian tennis players were having difficulty obtaining UK visas to play at Wimbledon. Khachanov then admitted that he already had all the necessary documents. Wimbledon 2023 will take place from July 3-16.
