Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva shared her emotions after entering the main draw at the Grand Slam tournament in the UK.
On Thursday, 16-year-old Andreeva won the final Wimbledon qualifier and entered the main draw at the tournament. In the decisive match, the Russian defeated German Tamara Korpach in three sets – 7:5, 5:7, 6:2.
– I am very happy with this result, because I am competing for the first time on grass. At first, I didn’t feel very comfortable on this surface, but now, little by little, I’m becoming more and more confident. Although I always fall. It seems to me that here I fall more often than the others.
When I arrived here, I didn’t feel confident at all. I just try to do my thing without having any expectations. It’s already cool that you managed to get here.
I just tried to play my game and fight for every ball and now I’m in the main draw. I’ve never been to Wimbledon before and I’m very excited,” Andreeva told the Wimbledon press service.
Wimbledon main draw matches will be played from July 3-16.
