Medvedev arrived in Germany after a near-perfect week at a grass-court tournament in the Netherlands. In the final, the 26-year-old tennis player lost to joker Tim Van Reithoven with the score 4:6, 1:6.

Over the past two weeks, the No. 51 in the world rankings has had several big wins, beating Denis Shapovalov and French Open quarter-finalist Karen Khachanov.

The German put in one of his best performances in recent matches and secured a place in the semi-finals.
