Kasatkina defeated Angelina Kalinina, Karolina Pliskova and Karolina Garcia and qualified for the semi-finals, where she faced Camila Giorgi. Despite losing the standings at the start of the first set, the Russian took the lead with the score 5:1.
Georgie couldn’t recover from such a powerful start from Kasatkina and lost the first set 2:6. Then Kasatkina took the lead in the second set with a score of 4: 2 and even served for the match with a score of 5: 4, but could not do so successfully.
Georgie fought back, leveling the score, but Kasatkina broke again to take a 6-5 lead. On the second attempt, Daria took the second set and won the match 6-2, 7-5, reaching her second final of the year.
Keys defeated Teresa Martincova, Wang Xu and Petra Martic to advance to the semifinals where she faced Corey Gauff. For a while the match was tied, but the 28-year-old American quickly took control of the first set.
Keys won five of the last six games in the set and won it 6-3. She was down 0-2 in the second set, but immediately changed the scenario, winning the match 6-3, 6-3. The American qualified for her first season final.
