Australian tennis player Nick Kyrios has announced his decision to withdraw from Wimbledon 2023 via social media.
“I am sad to say, but this year I have to withdraw from Wimbledon. I did my best to be ready after the operation and again to enter the courts of this tournament.
But I started having pain in my wrist. The x-ray showed a torn ligament. I tried everything, I just didn’t have enough time to deal with it, ”wrote the tennis player.
Last year, Kirios reached the Wimbledon final, where he lost in four matches to Serbian Novak Djokovic.
The 28-year-old Australian pulled out of the Australian Open this season due to knee issues. In 2023, he played one match – in June, in the first round of the Stuttgart tournament, he lost to Chinese Wu Yibin.
Wimbledon 2023 will take place from July 3-16.
