Soviet and Russian tennis player Andrei Olkhovsky said that he does not consider Daniel Medvedev Wimbledon 2023 favourite, as the Russian is yet to score any noticeable victories in the grass-court tournaments.
Medvedev in the first round of Wimbledon will play with Briton Arthur Fury.
– I wouldn’t call Medvedev the big favorite in the tournament, although he has a good draw. But the second round will be very difficult – there you will have to play against Mannarino. Why don’t I think this is my favourite? Daniil is yet to score any high-profile wins on grass. At Wimbledon, his maximum is the fourth round. For me personally, there are two main favorites – Djokovic and Alcaraz.
I really hope all our guys show great results next week. Everyone has prospects for this. Rublev recently played in the final of the tournament in Hull – he showed himself there brilliantly. Andre is in good shape. Let’s see how everything goes, – said Olkhovsky “Championship”.
Wimbledon will end on July 16.
