In the final, the Ukrainian-Latvian couple must meet Belgian Elise Mertens and Chinese Zhang Shuai. However, the latter was injured in the singles final against Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil. He ended the match earlier in the schedule, refusing to continue it, without finishing the first set (4: 5).
Accordingly, the Chinese woman also did not go to the doubles match. The result – the victory due to the rejection of rivals went to Kichenok and Ostapenko. For the first time in their careers, the tennis players won the doubles tournament together. In total, for Lyudmila, this victory is the sixth in double, and for Elena – the fifth.
