Anastasia Pivovarova, former second racket in the world among juniors, believes that the Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev will win a compatriot Aslan Karatsev in the second round of Wimbledon.
Rublev (7th seed) in the first round of the tournament on Monday beat Australian Max Purcell with the score 6:3, 7:5, 6:4, Karatsev was stronger than Frenchman Luc van Asch – 6:7 (4:7), 6:4, 6:2, 6:4. In the second round, the Russians will face each other.
– I consider Rublev the favorite, of course. I think there will be a fight, but Andrei can enter the third round by beating Karatsev. It’s great that Aslan got through the first round of Wimbledon. We are all waiting for him to return to his old form. Of course, Karatsev has all the skills to play tennis in the top 10 of the world rankings, but, unfortunately, psychologically he is now in some kind of failure. We don’t see the stable game he had before. I hope Karatsev can deal with his emotions, be inspired by his participation in the Grand Slam tournament, its atmosphere and show everything he is capable of,” Pivovarova told Gazeta.Ru.
Rublev and Karatsev previously held a personal meeting, during which Aslan turned out to be stronger.
