Police have arrested environmental activists for appearing illegally on the court during the Wimbledon first round match between Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and Japan’s So Shimabukuro, the tournament’s press service reports.
On Tuesday, activists from the Just Stop Oil movement rushed onto the court at the start of the second set and scattered orange confetti.
“After the incident at court number 18, two people were arrested on suspicion of illegal entry into the territory and causing criminal damage,” the press service said.
Previously, environmental campaigners had staged actions at the World Snooker Championship, a cricket match and the England Rugby Championship final.
Wimbledon runs from July 3-16.
