The two national tennis players define this Thursday, weather permitting, their commitments in the third Grand Slam of the year.
Wimbledon 2023 was marked by a postponement following the rain that fell on London. National tennis players are not oblivious to this reality and both Tomás Barrios (133rd) and Nicolás Jarry (28th) suffered postponements in their respective commitments. This Thursday, weather permitting, the two should take to the field.
Tomas Barrios vs. David Goffin
Barrios won the best victory of his career on Monday by defeating Sebastián Báez (46th) 7-6(7), 3-6, 6-3 and 7-6(2). The native of Chillán has qualified for the Grand Slam for the first time and must now face the Belgian David Goffin (123rd).
Initially, the commitment valid for the second round of the tournament was to be played this Wednesday in the final round, however, the match was postponed. It will be played tomorrow in the second team, around 7:30 am in Chile, on court 6 of the English competition.
What remains of Nicolás Jarry vs. Marco Cecchinato
In a tight first set, Marco Cecchinato managed to end the match in his favor thanks to a break in the tenth game. It was a blow for Nico Jarry. However, the Chilean woke up and with spectacular shots led the second set to a solid 4-1 in favor.
As the prince got ready to try to balance things out quickly, the Italian’s demands became intense. When the supervisor arrived on the field of play, he took the decision to suspend the match due to the lack of light . Note that this match is valid for the first round of Wimbledon and that its initial schedule has been agreed for Tuesday.
Nico and Cecchinato will play as the second team on court 5, around 7:30 a.m. in Chile, as will Tomás Barrios.
Where to see Chileans?
Jarry’s commitment and that of Barrios will be broadcast on the Star+ platform.
