Olympic champion Elena Vesnina called a great start of the Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev at Wimbledon 2023.
In the first round, the Russian, seeded under the 3rd number, beat Briton Arthur Fury with the score 7:5, 6:4, 6:3. In the second round, Medvedev will face Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.
– It was a very calm and confident victory for Medvedev. Good start at Wimbledon: more to come! Because of the rain, he had to wait a long time for his first match of the tournament. I’m sure it added to his nervousness. It was important for Dani to start confidently, not to give the opponent a chance, and in the end it happened. He even passed three sets, not allowing Feri to raise his head. Kudos for coping with the heavy rain and pressure. London without rain does not exist – it has always been so at Wimbledon, – Vesnina told the “Championship”.
