The Russian has had a stellar season so far, claiming 34 wins from 47 matches to clinch the title at the Monte-Carlo Masters. He also placed second at the Dubai Tennis Championships and more recently at the Halle Open.
Rublev reached the fourth round of Wimbledon for the second time in his career. He beat Max Purcell and Aslan Karatsev en route to the third round, then passed David Goffin to advance to the knockout stages. Andrei Rublev defeated the Belgian in four sets 6-3, 6-7(6), 7-6(5), 6-2.
In contrast, Alexander Bublik continued his good form at the Wimbledon Championships. The Kazakh has 20 wins in 41 matches this season, including a winning streak at the Halle Open which led him to the most important title of his career so far. He also reached the semi-finals of the Open 13 Province in Marseille.
Bublik, 26, beat Mackenzie McDonald and JJ Wolf at Wimbledon to advance to the third round before beating Maximilian Marterer to advance to the knockout stages. Bublik outscored the German in three sets 6-4, 6-1, 7-6(4) without any problems.
Rublev leads in head-to-head encounters with Bublik 3-1. However, quite recently, the fully fit Kazakh beat the Russian in the final of the Halle Open.
