Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva said she always tries to play her game, not paying attention to the status of her opponents and the stage of the tournament.
On Sunday, 16-year-old Andreeva reached the fourth round of Wimbledon, beating compatriot Anastasia Potapova (22nd seed) in two matches.
Of course, I’m happy to have won. It was a difficult match, but I’m happy to have managed to win. I try to play every game, every point and not think about how far I’ve come. It doesn’t matter against whom and in what round. I’m just playing my game.
You didn’t play on grass until Wimbledon qualifying. Were you surprised by the results?
“I just didn’t think about it. When I played the first qualifying game, I had no expectations because it was my first game on grass. I tried to give my best on the court. From the first match I found the right rhythm and it works. I always say it’s a game. The game will decide who wins the game,” Andreeva told a press conference.
The next opponent for the Russians will be American Madison Keys (25th seed).
