Safiullin beats Shapovalov to advance to Wimbledon quarter-finals

Russian Romain Safiullin became the first quarter-finalist of the Wimbledon tennis tournament.

Safiullin beat the Canadian in the fourth round Denis Shapovalov (26th seed) with a score of 3:6, 6:3, 6:1, 6:3. The tennis players spent 2 hours and 10 minutes on the court.

The next opponent of the 25-year-old Russian will be the winner of the match Yannick Sinner (Italy, 8) – Daniel Elahi Galan (Colombia).

Safiullin reached the quarter-finals for the first time in his career at a Grand Slam tournament. It’s his first Wimbledon.

In the third round, the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (21) in three games beat the tenth racket in the world, American Francis Tiafoe. To reach the quarter-finals, he will compete with the Dane Holger Rune (6).
