Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva said she did not expect to reach the fourth round of the Wimbledon tournament.
Andreeva failed to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals on Monday, losing to American Madison Keys 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 2:6.
“It was an incredible experience for me. Incredible matches I played here. I am happy with my result, but at the same time a little upset and disappointed. I hope next year I will do my best to do more.
I didn’t expect to go this far at Wimbledon because it’s my first grass court tournament, I had no experience at all. I qualified. It gave me a lot of confidence,” Andreeva told a press conference.
The 16-year-old also said she was experiencing psychological difficulties.
“I knew Federer struggled with his emotions when he was a teenager. In fact, when I was younger, I saw that he struggled too. I’m not the only one facing this.
I thought it was enough to wait a bit and everything would pass. But that doesn’t happen. You just need to work on yourself. The faster you do this, the faster, I think, the results will come, – added Andreeva.
