Russian tennis player Romain Safiullin was happy with his performance at Wimbledon, despite the quarter-final loss.
On Tuesday, Safiullin lost to Italian Yannick Sinner in four sets – 4:6, 6:3, 2:6, 2:6.
– I’m still happy with this tournament to have been able to reach the quarter-finals. Yannick is definitely one of the toughest opponents. It plays very well on any surface. Yes, he was much better than me today. He deserved this victory.
I played my serve well. But at some point I just lost focus and then Yannick gave 100% and broke me. So… We have to work harder to be ready to play against these guys,” Safiullin told a press conference.
Safiullin, ranked 92nd in the ATP rankings, showed his best result at Grand Slam tournaments. According to the results of the tournament, the 25-year-old Russian will become the 43rd racket in the world.
