Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva was fined $8,000 for “unsportsmanlike conduct” in a Wimbledon fourth round match against Madison Keys of the United States, Sky Sports reported.
On Monday, the 16-year-old Russian failed to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals, losing to the American 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 2:6.
The match referee awarded Andreeva a point in the final game of the third set for throwing her racket down the court. Before that, the Russian had received a warning from the judge after the second set tie-break.
The Russian is expected to win £207,000 for reaching the fourth round of the tournament.
