The Czech tennis player will play with the Ukrainian in the semi-finals of Wimbledon-2023
Czech tennis player Marketa Vondrousov commented on the upcoming semi-final match on Wimbledon 2023 with a Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
“It’s amazing what she does. She received a wild card and is now in the semi-finals. It seems to me that very little time has passed since the birth of her child. So it’s incredible. She is a fighter and plays very well. I think we too can see that it is possible to cope with motherhood. She also played beautifully in Paris and is now showing an excellent result here. It really amazes me that she can do this already having a child, and even after a long pause.
“We talked a little on Instagram, we didn’t see each other very much in person. But I fully support her. She is extraordinary, and everything she does and how much she fights for everything, and now she also shows wonderful tennis. I think she’s superwoman.”
“We have played before, so we know each other. Yes, she has a wild card, but she plays like a top ten tennis player. Therefore, for me there is no difference, she is a strong player and plays well. If you play in the semi-finals, then you have to be ready for everything, everyone goes to the end.
Vondrousova defeated Jessica Pegula of the USA in the quarterfinals. Elina won against the first racket of the world Igi Sventek from Poland.
The second pair of semi-finalists were Ons Zhaber and Arina Sobolenko. The 2023 Wimbledon Women’s Round of 16 matches will take place on 13 July.
