Athletistic/Tennis. Ons Jaber and Arina Sobolenko will face off in the semi-finals of Wimbledon on July 13, 2023. Who will win?

July 13. Wibledon. Semi final. Ons Jaber (Tunisia) – Arina Sobolenko (Belarus)

Forecast: Victory of Sobolenko

Four athletes compete for the trophy. Jaber is currently showing his best tennis from last year. The Tunisian tennis player has been struggling with injuries that have plagued her since winter, and is rapidly rising again in the world rankings. For now, she is in sixth place, and she is far from a second record, like last year, but she is going well with the motivation and the will to win.

In the quarterfinals, Zhaber defeated Elena Rybakina, the reigning Wimbledon champion. She managed to pull herself together after the first lost set and in the other two gave Kazakhstan only five games – 2:1 (6:7, 6:4, 6:1). The Wimbledon 2022 final rematch proved worthy.

Ons returned to form in the second half of the season. She performed unsuccessfully at the Australian Open, lost insultingly in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros, but in London she leaves no doubt about her skills. Jabeur didn’t prepare well for Wimbledon, having failed at the Berlin and Eastbourne tournaments, but that’s in the past.

In three of five Wimbledon matches, Ons gave their opponents no more than six matches, and matches lasted no more than an hour and a half. She made very few mistakes – even in the match against Rybakina, the Tunisian made only two doubles and 16 unforced errors.

Now Zhaber will face a more serious challenge in a match with one of the most uncomfortable opponents. Arina Sobolenko lost for the first and only time in personal encounters three years ago at Roland Garros in three sets. Since then, in three matches in Abu Dhabi, Wimbledon and the final championship, in only one case has there been a hint of a struggle.

This season for Arina is developing in the best possible way. She reached the semi-finals of the main lawn tennis tournament for the second time in a row. Sobolenko won the Australian Open, performed well in Paris and is now aiming for a fourth title of the season.

If the Belarusian reaches the final, she will officially become the world’s number one racket. Before the match, she was asked what more she wanted, and the answer was obvious – she needed both the final and the front row in the world rankings. Arina has high hopes for Wimbledon. Sobolenko’s grid was not straightforward – Varvara Gracheva, Anna Blinkova, Ekaterina Aleksandrova and Madison Keys were top tennis players, each of whom could make a splash. Nevertheless, only Gracheva imposed a fight and won a set. So far, no one has been able to cope with Arina’s powerful serve.

Sobolenko is logically considered the favorite in this match, she is practically at her peak and not only one step away from the coveted final, but also from the first place in the standings. Ons Jabeur is also hungry for revenge for three head-to-head defeats in a row, the Tunisian is able to drag the game and face the opposing service. But still, Sobolenko will win. Arina is very motivated. A native of Minsk will reach the final of Wimbledon 2023.
