Kamelzon: “In my lifetime, Medvedev played against Alcaraz the most unfortunate match of my life”

Russia’s honored coach Vladimir Kamelzon told that for the Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev Wimbledon semi-final match with the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz became the most unhappy of life.

Medvedev in the semifinals lost to the world’s first racket Alcaraz with the score 3:6, 3:6, 3:6.

– In my lifetime, Medvedev played the most unfortunate match of his life. I was saying earlier that the match is going to be difficult, after all, Alcaraz is the first racket in the world. This guy is not like anyone else, has his own writing of the game. Leader of the young generation. The Russian lost to the current world champion. Therefore, it’s too early to say it’s a tragedy, but it’s worth saying that Daniil and his team haven’t come up with an approach to the game.

There was also responsibility. Yet Russian tennis players had not reached the Wimbledon semi-finals for 15 years. Also, I always say it’s the main Grand Slam tournament.

But, unfortunately, Medvedev was not himself. There were a few minor hiccups in the second and third sets. However, I haven’t seen the Medvedev I know well. He stood far from the back line, and it’s grass – the ball flies, slides, so it’s not so easy to move. Did not go today and the submission of the Russians. Moreover, in the first set he kind of swayed for a long time, and the Spaniard immediately took the bull by the horns. Alcaraz led the game early on, holding superbly all over the pitch. Even the stands were for him. So the match didn’t work out for Medvedev.

The Spanish tennis player had one of the best matches. And he himself liked to play, to win. He wasn’t even in a hurry to leave the court. You can understand Medvedev, but you have to admit that a defeat is a defeat. It’s too early to shed tears. Yet he is also a great tennis player, showed a decent result in the tournament. However, the opponent turned out to be magnificent – he acted with ease and confidence.

Medvedev is still the No. 1 player for Russia. We love it and look forward to it. After every loss, a good team draws conclusions so they can continue to do their job well, Kamelzon told .

Alcaraz will play in the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career. The 20-year-old rival tennis player will be Serbian Novak Djokovic (2nd seed).
