Spanish world number one Carlos Alcaraz admitted that the Wimbledon final against Serbian Novak Djokovic would be one of the best moments of his life.
Djokovic beat Italian Yannick Sinner in the semi-finals, and Alcaraz was stronger than Russian Daniil Medvedev. The Grand Slam final will take place on Sunday.
– The match against Medvedev was probably one of my best matches, not only on grass, but also in my career on the circuit. I rate it 8 out of 10. I showed an excellent level.
I will try to enter the court without having the same nerves as during the semi-finals of Roland Garros in June. I am preparing for this match differently. I hope not to have cramps this time. I’m going to do some exercises to stay calm and forget that I have to play the final against Novak.
– Djokovic said that everyone in sport will follow this match. How would you describe the importance of this match for you?
“It will probably be the best moment of my life. To play the final here at Wimbledon is what I dreamed of when I started playing tennis. Like I said, it’s even better to play it against Novak.
It will be a very emotional moment for me. But I will try to keep my calm. For Novak it’s another day, but for me the best time of my life,” Alcaraz told a press conference.
Djokovic is a seven-time Wimbledon winner. Alcaraz will play in the final of this tournament for the first time in his career.
