Russia’s first racket Daniel Medvedev noted that he failed to show his full potential in the Wimbledon semi-final against Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
Medvedev, who received the third seed, lost the world’s top racket to Alcaraz in the semifinals 3:6, 3:6, 3:6.
– It’s hard to tell what the problem is [моей игры]since Alcaraz has played well. I certainly could have played better, but it wasn’t a terrible game. He is a very strong player. Compared to the big three, it looks a bit like them. He is only 20 years old, Alcaraz plays very well. It was number one on the chart for several weeks. I had to play to my limits. With Alcaraz you have to be on top, only there you can defeat him.
If you asked me if I’m happy with the ending, I would say yes and no. If you reach the Wimbledon final, you want to win. This is my best Wimbledon so far. Usually on the grass I didn’t feel good, but for those two weeks I felt good. I found myself in the top 4 of the tournament with incredible tennis players: Sinner, Djokovic and Alcaraz.
The final? I will follow the score live, but I will not watch the match itself. Do I see myself playing at 37? I would like to say that at this age I will show my best tennis, but it depends on many aspects,” Medvedev told a press conference.
