Vondrousova became the lowest-ranked tennis player in history to win Wimbledon

Czech tennis player Marketa Vondrousova who became the winner of the Wimbledon women’s singles tournament, set a new tournament record.

As WTA Insider reports, never before has a British Grand Slam trophy been won by an athlete ranked 42nd in the world rankings. In the last match on Saturday, the Czech faced the Tunisian Ons Jaber (6th racket in the world).

Earlier, Vondrousova became the first in history to reach the Wimbledon final unseeded in the main draw.

It should also be noted that following her performance at Wimbledon, Vondrousova will immediately climb into the top 10 of the WTA rankings next week, which will be her best position in her career.
