Athletistic/Tennis. On July 16, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will play the final of Wimbledon 2023. Who will be the strongest?

July 16. Wibledon. Men. Simple. Carlos Alcaras (Spain) – Novak Djokovic (Serbia)

Forecast: Victory for Djokovic

The title will be played by the first two seeds, the two best tennis players in the world. More recently, these athletes played in the Roland-Garros final. There, the victory went to the Serb in four sets. Physical preparation was an important factor. For the Spaniard, grass is not the most familiar surface, but he has adapted to it well. Before Wimbledon, Alcaraz won the tournament in London, and already here he confidently reached the final. In the 1/8 finals, despite losing in the first set, he confidently beat Matteo Berrettini and then faced Holger Rune and Daniil Medvedev.

Djokovic has seven Wimbledon wins and Novak is seriously aiming to reach eighth. The main difficulty for the Serb in this tournament so far has been created by Andrey Rublev: the Russian won the first set and could catch up in the third, but Djokovic was more precise in key moments. In the semi-finals with Yannick Sinner, everything was much easier.

Djokovic holds the record for most weeks at the top of the professional men’s and women’s singles charts. Record holder for the number of seasons (seven) completed in the status of first racket in the world. Record holder for the most Grand Slam titles in singles – 23. Record holder for the number of victories in the “Masters” tournament series in singles – 38. Six-time winner of the ATP Finals. 2010 Davis Cup winner with the Serbian national team. Winner of 95 ATP tournaments (including 94 singles).

Alcaraz is the youngest male leader in the world rankings in history; winner of a Grand Slam singles tournament (US Open 2022); winner of 11 ATP singles tournaments.

Djokovic has a lot more experience on grass, that surface suits him, and Alcaraz is still an all-terrain car in the first place. On the other hand, the draws on grass will be shorter which means there’s a better chance that the Spaniard won’t have any problems with his fitness. The bookmakers see Djokovic as the favourite. There will be no feeling. The Serb will claim victory in the final and win Wimbledon.

Recall that the Wimbledon 2023 women’s final took place earlier. The victory was won by the representative of the Czech Republic Marketa Vondrousova.
