Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz called victory over Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, the happiest moment of my life.
Alcaraz beat Djokovic in a five-set showdown in 4 hours 42 minutes – 1:6, 7:6 (8:6), 6:1, 3:6, 6:4.
“Obviously, before this game, I didn’t think I was ready to beat Djokovic in five sets, in a game as big as this. After this epic game, let’s just say yes, I think differently of Novak than I do. I probably did in other tournaments, in other Grand Slams. I will remember this moment.
Now I will consider that I am ready to play five sets against him, to make good plays, to show good sets. A very, very long game.
It’s the happiest moment of my life, for sure. Maybe in five years my opinion will change! Now I’m 20, I haven’t experienced such situations too often, so I’m going to enjoy this moment,” Alcaraz said.
The victory was Alcaraz’s first at Wimbledon and second at the Grand Slam tournaments, the Spaniard had already won the US Open in 2022.
