“The first thing Zvonareva and the Russian Tennis Federation should do now is file a complaint with the International Tennis Federation. This should be done immediately. Especially considering that Shamil Tarpishchev is an experienced and authoritative leader. We have already had precedents when certain countries were deprived of the right to host major competitions due to the lack of visas and the participation of our athletes. Here the situation is similar. I believe the ITF can take similar action against the organizers of the Warsaw tournament if they fail to ensure the safety and protection of Russian athletes. So why take on such a responsibility? If they don’t know how, let them learn from others, for example from Russia.
Thus, they are trying to grab the attention of the global community. It is clear that Poland is not treating us in the best light at the moment. But this should in no way affect the athletes. If one of the Polish athletes came to us, believe me, he would be received at the highest level. They would provide both visa and security assistance if needed,” Svishchev stressed in an interview with RT.
Kamelzon – about Zvonareva: “You have to think with your head, what reasonable Russian will now go to Warsaw to play tennis?”
