Athletistic / Tennis. Former Soviet tennis player Andrei Chesnokov has ridiculed the Polish authorities’ decision not to let Russian tennis player Vera Zvonareva into the country. She intended to participate in the WTA tournament in Warsaw (Poland).

Border guards did not allow the athlete to enter. It has been reported that she is on the undesirable persons list. And the entry ban was passed for national security reasons.

The State Duma offered to deprive the tournament in Poland of WTA status for not allowing Zvonareva

“It’s just ridiculous. What kind of threat does Zvonareva pose? I see it as a provocation. For Polish tennis fans, it’s a loss. Zvonareva won Grand Slam tournaments in pairs, played alone in the final. Maybe she didn’t win anything there, but she’s still a star. Many sports fans remember her and love her,” Chesnokova quotes TASS.
