“Until the middle of the third set there was an even fight” – Selivanenko on Rublev’s match with Cherundolo

Vice President of the Russian Tennis Federation, member of the ITF Board of Directors Alexei Selivanenko noted that the match of the Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev with argentinian Francisco Cherundolo in the semi-finals of the tournament in the Swedish Bostad turned out to be interesting.

The meeting lasted 2 hours 47 minutes and ended in victory for Rublev with the score 7:6 (8:6), 6:7 (7:9), 6:3

— It was a very interesting match with excellent tennis. Rublev’s opponent is one of the fastest players on the circuit. It is very interesting to watch. Argentines, in principle, are famous for their dirt traditions. And Serundolo is potentially a very strong player. The two-set fate was decided in a tie-break, and Andrey only managed to achieve superiority in the middle of the third set. And until that moment there was an equal fight on the field, – Selivanenko told Vprognoze.ru.

On Sunday, Rublev will play the final of the ATP 250 tournament on clay in Båstad, Sweden against world No. 4 Kasper Ruud. The meeting is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Moscow time.
