Russian tennis player Maria Timofeva rose from 246th to 129th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, an updated version of which is published on the organization’s website.
On Sunday, 19-year-old Timofeeva defeated the Ukrainian in three sets Katerina Beindl in the final of the Budapest tournament, winning the first WTA title. For a Russian woman, this is the highest position in her career.
The best of the Russians is Daria Kasatkina, who is in 11th place.
