This all happened after the former world number 17 beat Bolivian Hugo Dellien (164th) 6-7, 6-1 and 6-3 in the first round of the ATP in Hamburg. Garin qualified for the main draw after completing qualifying and showed excellent tennis to secure a spot in the second round.

The change in mentality was total, managing to take the second set very comfortably 6-1 in just 21 minutes.
