Former world number one Victoria Azarenko finished ahead of schedule at the WTA 1000 Series tournament in Montreal.
34-year-old athlete beaten in the first round Magdu Linet tons of Poland with a score of 6:3, 6:0. In the second-round match, she was scheduled to meet American tennis player Sloane Stevens, but during the pre-match warm-up she felt her abdominal muscle injury worsening and decided to withdraw from the tournament.
“I wish Sloane the best of luck for the next few rounds and I can’t wait to get back to Montreal,” Azarenka wrote on social media.
Stevens’ opponent in the third round will be the winner of the pair Elena Rybakina – Jennifer Brady.
