Winner of the Canadian US Open Bianca Andreescu announced that she would miss the WTA 1000 category tournament in Cincinnati (USA) due to a back injury, noting that she expected to play at the US Open.
Andreescu is ranked 41st by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). Last week, the 23-year-old Canadian lost early in the tournament in Montreal.
– At the Washington tournament, I felt a pain in my back, which was getting stronger and stronger. During the match in Montreal, she did everything to play at the highest level. The results of the medical examination showed that I had a small stress fracture in my back. Unfortunately, that means I won’t be able to play in Cincinnati.
I will try to give my back a rest and will strive to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. I am optimistic about my participation in the US Open. Your support is very important to me! Andreescu wrote on the social network.
Andreescu won the US Open in 2019, his best world ranking position is fourth.
The US Open will be held from August 28 to September 10 in New York.
