Ukrainian paired with Latvian Ostapenko lost to a duet from the USA
Ukrainian-Latvian duo Ludmila Kichenok And Elena Ostapenko lost in the second round of the doubles tournament WTA 1000 in Cincinnati (USA).
The rivals of Kichenok and Ostapenko were US representatives Alisha Parks and Taylor Townsend. The meeting lasted almost an hour and a half and consisted of two sets.
In the first game, a Ukrainian and a Latvian led 4:1, then 5:2. But in the end, the opponents managed to turn the set in their favor, winning back three set points along the way. The tie-break brought success to the Americans – 4:7.
Kichenok and Ostapenko could not recover from such a failure and lost the second set outright – 1:6. Thus, last year’s champions of the tournament in Cincinnati resigned.
