Athletistic/Tennis. The famous Soviet and Russian tennis player, who previously occupied the ninth position in the world ranking and winner of seven ATP tournaments, Andrei Chesnokov analyzed the defeat of Daniil Medvedev in the third round of the Cincinnati Masters (USA) against the German Alexander Zverev with a score of 4:6, 7:5, 4:6.

Chesnokov pointed out: “Each match is a bit like the previous one. It seems to me that you can’t always count on the fact that you can get out – one day it will work, and another time it won’t. Besides, there should note that Medvedev is actively moving a long distance from the baseline, which requires a lot of physical effort. After Medvedev managed to break the ball in the second set and win it, as well as at the start of the third set it looked like he had a slight advantage, however after the break point, almost a match point, it became clear “Zverev was also tired. There was a long exchange. He showed great play at the end of this match, especially in the sets. In such matches, one or two points are life-changing.”

According to Chesnokov, it was clear before the match that Zverev was fit and had every chance of challenging for the US Open title.

“Now he has recovered and shown a good game. His movement towards the balls and his confidence in that aspect of the game really stand out. There are all the prerequisites. Of course, he cannot be compared to Djokovic or Alcaraz at the same level, but Zverev has chances”, Chesnokova quotes “Championship”.
