Athletistic/Tennis. The organizers of the US Open have refused to change the schedule of evening matches, despite complaints from athletes. Many tennis players have expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that they have to go out on the court late at night. Iga Šwiętek recently criticized the scheduling of a tournament in Montreal, Canada, where matches ended around 2am. Andy Murray has also expressed his displeasure with night matches, after his Australian Open meeting with Thanasi Kokkinakis ended around four in the morning.

“We’ve had long and heated discussions about evening match start times since last year’s US Open. Starting evening sessions at 6:00 p.m. was our original goal, but that turned out to be impossible. Even As of 7:00 p.m., New Yorkers find it difficult to access the courts.

We also studied the possibility of playing one evening match on each court instead of two, as was the case before. However, we have come to the conclusion that this might not be fair to our loyal fans. Unfortunately, our schedule is closely tied to the time taken by individual matches.

In the current situation, we are keeping two evening games on each pitch starting at 7:00 p.m. However, we will continue to analyze the situation. And frankly, there’s nothing better than evening fights on Arthur Ashe’s pitch,” tournament director Stacey Allaster said in an interview with Sport.pl.

Remember that the US Open 2023 will be held from August 28 to September 10.
