Ukrainian beat Eugenie Bouchard from Canada in three sets
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya continued its successful progress in US Open qualifiers. She has one fight left before entering the main draw.
In the semi-finals of the qualification, Dayana defeated Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard in three sets. The meeting lasted over two hours.
Yastremskaya won the first set devastatingly – 6:1. In the second installment, Bouchard took revenge. The key moment was Dayana’s loss on her serve with the score 3:4. However, in the third set, Yastremskaya answered her opponent with a similar break, after which she brought the game to its logical end. Note that the Ukrainian completed twice as many aces as her opponent – six against three.
Earlier, Katarina Zavatskaya, Yulia Starodubtseva and Daria Snigur, as well as Aleksey Krutykh and Vitaliy Sachko left the qualification of the American tournament of the Grand Slam series.
Yastremskaya in the final qualification of the US Open will meet in a duel with Romanian Gabriela Ruse.
Five Ukrainian tennis players – Elina Svitolina, Angelina Kalinina, Marta Kostyuk, Lesya Tsurenko and Kateryna Beindl – were included in the application list of the US Open 2023 main draw, which will be held from August 28 to September 10. The US Open 2023 prize pool will be $65 million.
