Another tennis player suspended from competition due to Boldenone

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has temporarily suspended Chilean Barbara Gatica on suspicion of an anti-doping rule violation, according to the organization’s website.

During the athlete’s doping test, carried out at the Bogota tournament in April, the banned substance boldenone was discovered. The 25-year-old tennis player exercised the right to open the B sample and appealed the suspension, the appeal was dismissed by the head of the independent tribunal.

Earlier, for a similar reason, Britain’s Tara Moore was suspended, who also tested positive for boldenone during a tournament in Bogotá.

In 2020, Colombian Robert Farah avoided disqualification after failing a boldenone test used by meat producers. The tennis player was able to prove that the substance had entered his body with “infected” beef, which he had consumed before taking the sample.
